Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer is an American text based contemporary artist currently working in New York. Her projects center around the use of text installations across different mediums such as LED signs, T-Shirts, and print among other materials. Through writing, Holzer voices ideas that rival ignorance and violence. Her work began in the 1970’s with her street posters and has evolved into light projections and other site specific installations. The public installation of Holzer’s work is integral, as her approach to serious issues and pressing political topics has been proliferated, seen, and reacted to, by many. Holzer’s statements have permeated culture and placed her as a key and indispensable figure within contemporary art. Her words have been displayed in prominent museums, disseminated across the world, and found on t-shirts and other ephemera among the public.
