Maripol

Maripol is a Moroccan artist, designer, and stylist, currently based in New York. She is known for capturing images that represented some of the most exciting moments in contemporary art history. A prominent fixture in 1970’s and 1980’s New York nightlife, the artist has captured polaroid images of figures such as Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, and Grace Jones. While keeping record of a booming artistic youth culture, Maripol also became a designer for the fashion label Fiorrucci, and later founded her accessory line Maripolitan. Some of her most notable collaborations include her styling work with Madonna on the iconic “Like A Virgin” video and album cover, and her photography for Taylor Swift's “1989” album cover. Throughout her career Maripol has produced and art directed notable film works such as “Downtown 81” and “The Message”. Maripol’s work has been exhibited in prestigious museums such as MoMA P.S. 1, the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, and the Guggenheim Bilbao.
