Robert Montgomery
“I feel it’s a kind of responsibility to critique things that you think are bad – but I also feel an almost moral obligation to propagate hope”, says artist Robert Montgomery. Montgomery’s work centers around this idea, and uses poetry as a means to embed conversation into our public spaces. Using site specific installations and harnessing materials like light and fire, Montgomery creates much needed discourse on a large scale. The Scottish artist, currently based in London, creates pieces that highlight issues of our time, and as such has focused more recently on issues of climate change and collaborating with climate focused organizations. Montgomery states “I think the ecological crisis we are facing is the major historical crisis of our time and our generation will be judged on it.”
